This gesture could cost Ronaldo a two-game suspension

*In the referee's book under the section set aside for expulsions, it is recorded that the player was given the red card for "hitting the face of another player (Carlos Gurpegi) with his hand, when the game had been stopped".
Miguel Ángel Ayza Gámez, the Valencian referee that presided over the Athletic-Real Madrid game, duly noted in his book the gestures made by the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo when leaving the San Mamés pitch after receiving his straight red. In the section set aside for "other occurrences", the referee noted that after being sent off, the Real player "while leaving the field of play, slapped the palm of his hand to his face, while looking at the fourth match official". This gesture in Spain is often understood to mean "You've got a nerve".
